Many think of paradise as utopia an idealised community where everything is imagined perfect but this is like being infatuated with a stranger seeing them with ‘rose coloured glasses on’. So firstly what was the garden of Eden, since the Bible called this an earthly paradise?

Well have you visited one of those well manicured parks they can cause us to imagine we are visiting a paradise, but how many professional tree surgeons, horticulturalist’s and gardeners were involved, the beautiful shrubs and flowers that came from the greenhouse and are planted out at just the right time to provide maximum effect. You see we have a tendency to forget all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Another example could be a vacation to an exotic location in the Caribbean with white beaches, palm trees and crystal clear waters full of fish. Or a fantastic cruise where we are waited on ’hand and foot’ with spas, sea views, tours, 12 course gourmet meals and unlimited cocktails. Then we say ‘I wish this would never end’. For a few lucky ones this can be repeated many times, some of course are multi millionaires who own their own luxury yacht. Have you noticed the staff at luxury hotels are required to provide a personal service ’above and beyond’ their customers expectations. So it is people and the service they provide to other people that is key to having a ‘paradise’ experience. Of course prior to the abolition of slavery many were used in this service without cost.

The Garden of Eden provides a backdrop to how humanity began, although the description is of an ideal park-like garden full of fruit trees with one unavailable to this resident couple. More is apparent from the account concerning its land size believed to be as large as Wales in Great Britain. In Wales there are mountains, valleys, rivers, forests and lakes its a huge place for one couple to live in. They would need to expand their family but according to the account the man and his wife were newly together possibly as short as a year or two. Although Adam (meaning ‘red clay’man) had been alive for over 40 yrs it was not until he had named all the animals that he began to feel lonely, it was at this time that his Heavenly Father decided to build him his companion, who later when she was introduced to her prospective husband that he reacted with awe (she was naked as was he). He stated the first lines of recorded poetry and named her ‘woman’. Genesis  2:7-23. Most men have their fantasies of their ideal woman, Eve fulfilled those and much more. Her personality was aligned with his, she was even made from his flesh so he well knew how connected they were, so inseparable!
The possible geographical location of the Garden of Eden?

What did ADAM do during those 40 years? He learnt farming, agriculture, exploring, mountaineering, hiking, probably fishing, forestry and swimming. Did he do building? Where did he sleep? Did he prepare food? Imagine what you would have needed to learn living on your own in the world. The land he resided in was surrounded by mountains much higher than those in Wales, he could walk for days and not cross the land it may have been up to 200 miles across (320 km). It’s likely the only exit was via a valley to the north, with an impregnable hedge. Imagine you were in Adam’s place the only person on earth, how would you cope? Would you just live on fruit? Would you try to make shelter? Being a warm climate meant clothes were not needed but would you have explored and been able to find happiness as he did?

Almighty God and his heavenly Son enjoyed project earth. The Planet it’s life, was created as a home for humanity Adam and his wife were to be the first human residents. So how did God communicate with Adam and later his wife as well? The Bible says in Genesis 3:8 it says, ”That evening”GN ”they heard the voice of Jehovah God walking in the garden about the breezy part of the day, ”the sound of the LORD walking ..in the cool part of the day”NIV. These different translations paint a picture of how God communicated as a fatherly moving ‘voice’ to his physical human children. On this occasion they were scared but normally they would be relaxed as any children are when talking to their parents. As Bible students we now believe that Almighty God’s voice was actually the voice of his heavenly Son representing Him, this is because in later scriptures, they state that Jesus while on earth said he is the mediator between God and man, and is also known as the WORD of God, this does not mean that when we pray God doesn't hear us, he does. So this explains why Adam remained happy he did not feel alone because he had his Papa with him In his every day tasks. His Father‘s voice chatted with him every day in the evening, he would express his plans, gain advice, that would feel to him as if he and his Heavenly Father were working together. What a unique friendship Adam had especially after 40 years of sojourning. Did he use God‘s divine name as well as Dad, Papa or Father? Most certainly he did proof is mentioned in the section LGBT on God. So in this regard he enjoyed paradise. It was not the physical surroundings that were the primary importance it was the relationship that they enjoyed together.

Later paradise was lost when Adam and Eve ‘hid’ from the voice, they felt guilty and did not want to talk to Gods walking voice. Often we argue with friends or family but to continue a loving relationship we need to ‘kiss and makeup’’, if we don’t then a relationship can be lost, sometimes forever, how sad! The human pair did not want further friendship with their Papa, this is when paradise was lost not when they were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Jesus Christ used the young child’s term ‘Papa’ just seconds before he expired, died. So to regain Paradise in the New World we need to restore our human friendship with our Heavenly Father.
This leaves the Question; Why did they choose to break this fantastic relationship with their heavenly parent?
This is dwelt in Angels section Adam & Eve Deceived

Jesus when he was 30 years old got baptised in the Jordan river in Israel, Jews got baptised as a way of demonstrating a greater commitment to serve God as we would when getting married to show our commitment to our partner. He went to wilderness to meditate on his preaching work ahead, just as he finished Satan appeared to him and tried to get him to ‘commit one act of worship'. The offer be a political Christ and to rule the world now. Jesus rejected him but it displayed the issue of who will we serve God or the god of this world the Prince of the rebellion. [Mathew chapter 4] More on Jesus, Go to ‘Jesus’ section:

What will it be like in Paradise?
Many envision paradise, we know death and sickness will eventually be gone but you may have many practical questions so we have tried to cover many here.

  • Those disabled or with chronic illness, those elderly how will they recover, does Jesus have to lay his hands on them?    Will some body who is 80 years be suddenly be 30 again? Will children be born and how about aborted fetus’?
  • What about marriage, will it continue for those already married and those resurrected will they be able to marry?
What about food will humanity return to vegetarianism? Will humans return to nudity as were Adam and Eve? What about money?

  • Will there be cell phones, iPad's, will we be able to keep our automobiles? Can we move into celebrity homes now empty? What about our favourite takeaways, McDonald's? Our favourite stores, Walmart, Tesco, M&S, Kohl’s, Barneys, Harrods ?
  • Will we have towns and cities? What about Factories, Mines, Energy production? What about the environment? Nuclear power plants, will they exist and what about the existing ones and radiation pollution? At present we buy our homes or rent them, where do we get a new one from? If you love your job or career, Will you now be unemployed? If sickness is going to be done away with, what about hospitals ? If you are a doctor or nurse and love your work, will you be needed?
  • If you are scientist, biologist, computer analyst, will there be a need for you or will everybody be expected to work on the land being self sustaining and grow your own veg? If you are a mechanic, auto technician, what will you do, what about oil? If you are a Zoologist obviously a great pleasurable challenge awaits, as you see dangerous animals be peaceable with humans. If you are a horticulturalist then this too will, be a pleasure because dangerous weeds will start to recede.
  • If you are a sports celebrity then you will continue to enjoy your passion but the financial returns will not be there but there will be other activities you will be able to fulfil as well your goals in your favourite sport. Radio and TV, theatre pundit’s will be able to continue their careers although regarding news, there will be a lack of bad news. Presently many who desire to be in performing arts can’t get into the profession due to just a few becoming famous but now more will have this opportunity, show business will not be as ‘cut throat’ as it is today; of course if it is just fame you desire, then maybe you should review your motives.

Will we definitely see those loved ones who have died and what about our beloved pets we have lost in death?

Attempted Answers, some we will not really have the answer until we are in this new world with Christ as our Ruler.  The answer will enable us to envision how life can be, but is there anything at the present time that we can do to help us to understand or feel how good life will be once the oppressive authorities of the present world system are gone. One thing is mixing with others who show brotherly and sisterly love now, by facing challenges together and working unitedly now without charge. So being a volunteer is the first step in this process, showing love and consideration to those around us. At the present time with the Ukraine conflict 100,000’s are offering refugees a free place to stay in their own homes throughout many countries of Europe, this is a demonstration of neighbourly love in action. A point made previously was that the paradise experience was provided by people giving this service to other people, the point here is, this is the first step in loving God by showing love for our fellow human. This is a returning step back into paradise that Adam and Eve left.

Chronic illness was healed by Jesus while on earth so by examining his behaviour back then in Palestine will give us an idea how miracles will happen for us. On one occasion he cured a blind man who he put on eye salve and instructed him to wash in the pool of Si-loam. The purpose was to provide time for him to get used to light something he would not have known previously. He raised a daughter from death but ensured that it was done in private with just the girls’ parents there in their own home. So this indicates that resurrected people will be ’awakened’ from the sleep of death amongst friends or close relatives if possible. Notice he described Lazarus when he was dead as ‘sleeping’ in the grave. Another relief here is that those deceased are in a deep sleep, unconscious, not in some mythical heaven or hell. Somebody who is alive and enters as a survivor at 80 yrs of age will gradually grow younger. In Job 42 it says that Job‘s skin became fresher like in youth and he lived another life time meaning that the ageing process can progressively be reversed. Just imagine every morning one less wrinkle! John 9:1-12 ch 11:1-44 nwt

Aborted fetus, children and marriage, king David wrote about himself in Psalm 139:13-17 about God knowing him as an embryo, this means the Grand Creator knows the individual once an embryo is formed meaning all the aborted foetuses can be read by him, he can see the individuals potential this means they could qualify for resurrection in the general resurrection in the new world. How would he do it? Mary, Jesus human mother carried him so any willing surrogate mother could carry these embryos. In the prophesy of Isaiah 11:1-10 NIV describes Jesus rule, peace amongst the animals and a child safe in the ‘hole of a cobra’ The NIV commentary says ‘such perfect tranquillity is possible only when Christ reigns over the earth’. This means the mandate given to Adam and Eve continues that includes marriage, children and childbirth. The instruction was ‘to fill the earth (with children)’ only when the earth is ‘filled’ will childbirth cease (we believe). Adam’s wife Eve was made from his flesh they became ‘one flesh’ with no prospect of dying meaning marriage is meant to be permanent except for us imperfect people who want a change. So all those like myself who have experienced divorce, need to remember the right companion in life is something we would not want to change, but if our partner is not someone we want as a companion for life then, those married unevenly would not be able to be happy ‘living a lie’ for 100 years, our Creator would be unkind not to provide sufficient flexibility. Scripture does talk about ‘another scroll was opened’ Revelation 20:12 Insight volume 2 page 880 commentary. Meaning new laws in the new world. Interestingly Almighty God has experience with divorce himself the record says he ‘divorced Israel’, some quote that he hates ‘divorce’ but this is incorrect the scripture says ‘ he hates the treachery in divorce’ Malachi 2:16 & Jeremiah 3:6-11 (spiritual prostitution by Judah). The main grounds are sexual unfaithfulness meaning the wronged party can move on if they desire. During Israel’s earlier history a ‘certificate’ was also permitted. So this means the wrong doer is not a criminal to be judged by any of us the issue of fidelity is between to couple it is their private wedding contract between each other and God. Unfaithfulness is most certainly hurtful to the wronged partner It’s this hurtfulness that displeases God.

  • Nudity and Vegetarianism , both of these were carried out prior to the flood, the planet was warmer so it seems very unlikely that either of these will be mandatory. Certain groups may decide to have nudist colonies as we have today. Personal choice is part of free will and the same applies to those wanting to be vegetarian, it’s is very likely that meat consumption will reduce. My wife will miss her favourite shop, so sorry McDonald's will go as well but there is no real problem we can always after we have rebuilt our homes and basic community services set up our own take away restaurants like McDonald’s if we desire. The same applies to automobiles, technical stuff. Building roads, computers all this is human prerogative. Jehovah says quite clearly we are in charge of our planet as long as we care for it and remain grateful to him by showing love to each other. Money will not needed, yes we may barter, exchange and provide our services to one another it’s part of giving to the community and scripture says giving to our neighbour is ‘lending‘ to Jehovah. Proverbs 19:17 NIV commentary says ‘God accepts our help as if we offered it directly to him’. Please remember there are many new opportunities and goals we will also be able to do that are not available to us in this present system, improved health meaning holidays can last longer (if we felt we needed vacations, maybe just live for a while in anther area) and work will be more joyful and satisfying . Bear in mind while we recover from the previous destruction, the surviving Israelite's after the Red Sea did not experience clothing problems, footwear or swelling feet.
”it seems the people did not even notice that in 40 years of wandering in the desert, (wilderness) their clothes did not wear out and their feet didn't swell ..they never gave thanks’ NIV commentary on
    Deuteronomy 8:4  How ungrateful.

  • So finally much is said about the resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteousness that those dead will be judged by what is written in the scrolls. One human problem is that we think judging is connected to some high court that we see in our countries legal system. We imagine a prosecutor and ourselves as a defendant but this is human imaginary. At death the person is without sin because the ‘wages is paid by sin by death’ JB so death pays the full price of sin, see Satan section on ‘hell’. To explain there is no record of our previous actions except in the mind of the resurrected person, there is no court scene, but this person is given a fresh start in a society ruled by love under Christs kingship so it’s up to how they fit in and live their lives within this new society. Those who want to continue evil behaviour will after sufficient time will be removed, loosing their lives permanently. Your beloved animals who you have lost in death will not be brought back to life. In January this year our ‘boy’ was run over by one of those large quiet electronic automobiles on the school run. My wife was heartbroken she is an ardent cat lover, this tabby male was a gorgeous cat I loved him too, we were both devastated my wife had held him in her hand just after his birth. We look out on his grave in the garden too heartbroken to get another cat at present. I so wanted to be able to bring him back to life. We got him back from the veterinary surgery and his body was still warm I did wonder whether Jehovah would give us the power to keep our pets alive longer. Adam had witnessed animal death so when he was warned about death as the consequence of disobedience he understood perfectly.
  •
One final point that some bring up on the resurrection of those on earth claiming Jesus said they would be like angels neither marrying of given in marriage. Mark 12:24 in
NIV commentary it says ‘instead of worrying about what Gods coming kingdom will be like..it is not be an extension of ..this physical’ life. This obviously is about the hope of joining Christ in heaven leaving the physical life on earth a concept new to the Jews whose only knowledge was life on earth in a Jewish homeland a land ‘flowing with milk and honey’. The setting of this conversation was with Jewish religious theologians whose desire was to trick Jesus and put him down. So Jesus’ answer was directed over his head just as when he spoke to some of his followers about eating his ‘flesh and drinking his blood’. This of course stumbled many who gave up following him.
  • Energy Production will still need to be available for humanity to harness, bear in mind there will be many more opportunities, consumption may be at a much lower level especially if clothes don’t wear out for a while. Food supplies could easily be a problem but the experience of Elijah where the widows flour pot never ran out. On another occasion God used black ravens to bring food to his prophet. 1 Kings 18:4-16 JB In the wilderness the Israelite were fed by a miracle with both meat {quale] and ‘manna’. Will any body find themselves unemployed? No now those who love their present careers will be able to continue. For example a doctor or nurse will still be needed, first aid, accidents, injuries, of course cancer, COVID, contagious diseases will be gone. Large hospitals will most certainly not be needed but surgeries will still be needed most likely attached to a doctors/nurse’ home.
  • Transportation will not be as it is today but in Europe and the US there are many heritage railways run by volunteers who love their involvement in these construction projects, there is no reason for this not to continue into the future most especially assisting the new transport networks that interconnect and provide a real transport service. The same applies to road transport, and shipping, those involved will be involved for the pleasure of the network and sport. Specialist shops, markets and farm picking. As an example of new opportunities in working together in unity see the articles on branch construction in Britain; ‘A place for women in construction’ and videos from U.K.  Over 40% of the construction workers were women, see pics. In God’s new world there will be many opportunities that we could not even dream about today but if you can get involved in some special project as a volunteer now, you will be able to taste the joy of working side by side will friends to benefit the disadvantaged without consideration of personal advantage but in consideration to helping others. This pleases God and fulfils Jesus words where he said “there is more happiness in giving than receiving“. It also provides us with the hope of helping when we enter this new world soon after Christs return. Did you know hope was likened to a ship’s anchor. Hebrews 6:19
