Many think of paradise as utopia an idealised community where everything is imagined perfect but this is like being infatuated with a stranger seeing them with ‘rose coloured glasses on’. So firstly what was the garden of Eden, since the Bible called this an earthly paradise?
Well have you visited one of those well manicured parks they can cause us to imagine we are visiting a paradise, but how many professional tree surgeons, horticulturalist’s and gardeners were involved, the beautiful shrubs and flowers that came from the greenhouse and are planted out at just the right time to provide maximum effect. You see we have a tendency to forget all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Another example could be a vacation to an exotic location in the Caribbean with white beaches, palm trees and crystal clear waters full of fish. Or a fantastic cruise where we are waited on ’hand and foot’ with spas, sea views, tours, 12 course gourmet meals and unlimited cocktails. Then we say ‘I wish this would never end’. For a few lucky ones this can be repeated many times, some of course are multi millionaires who own their own luxury yacht. Have you noticed the staff at luxury hotels are required to provide a personal service ’above and beyond’ their customers expectations. So it is people and the service they provide to other people that is key to having a ‘paradise’ experience. Of course prior to the abolition of slavery many were used in this service without cost.
The Garden of Eden provides a backdrop to how humanity began, although the description is of an ideal park-like garden full of fruit trees with one unavailable to this resident couple. More is apparent from the account concerning its land size believed to be as large as Wales in Great Britain. In Wales there are mountains, valleys, rivers, forests and lakes its a huge place for one couple to live in. They would need to expand their family but according to the account the man and his wife were newly together possibly as short as a year or two. Although Adam (meaning ‘red clay’man) had been alive for over 40 yrs it was not until he had named all the animals that he began to feel lonely, it was at this time that his Heavenly Father decided to build him his companion, who later when she was introduced to her prospective husband that he reacted with awe (she was naked as was he). He stated the first lines of recorded poetry and named her ‘woman’.
Genesis 2:7-23. Most men have their fantasies of their ideal woman, Eve fulfilled those and much more. Her personality was aligned with his, she was even made from his flesh so he well knew how connected they were, so inseparable!
The possible geographical location of the Garden of Eden?

What did ADAM do during those 40 years? He learnt farming, agriculture, exploring, mountaineering, hiking, probably fishing, forestry and swimming. Did he do building? Where did he sleep? Did he prepare food? Imagine what you would have needed to learn living on your own in the world. The land he resided in was surrounded by mountains much higher than those in Wales, he could walk for days and not cross the land it may have been up to 200 miles across (320 km). It’s likely the only exit was via a valley to the north, with an impregnable hedge. Imagine you were in Adam’s place the only person on earth, how would you cope? Would you just live on fruit? Would you try to make shelter? Being a warm climate meant clothes were not needed but would you have explored and been able to find happiness as he did?

Almighty God and his heavenly Son enjoyed project earth. The Planet it’s life, was created as a home for humanity Adam and his wife were to be the first human residents. So how did God communicate with Adam and later his wife as well? The Bible says in Genesis 3:8 it says, ”That evening”GN ”they heard the voice of Jehovah God walking in the garden about the breezy part of the day, ”the sound of the LORD walking ..in the cool part of the day”NIV. These different translations paint a picture of how God communicated as a fatherly moving ‘voice’ to his physical human children. On this occasion they were scared but normally they would be relaxed as any children are when talking to their parents. As Bible students we now believe that Almighty God’s voice was actually the voice of his heavenly Son representing Him, this is because in later scriptures, they state that Jesus while on earth said he is the mediator between God and man, and is also known as the WORD of God, this does not mean that when we pray God doesn't hear us, he does. So this explains why Adam remained happy he did not feel alone because he had his Papa with him In his every day tasks. His Father‘s voice chatted with him every day in the evening, he would express his plans, gain advice, that would feel to him as if he and his Heavenly Father were working together. What a unique friendship Adam had especially after 40 years of sojourning. Did he use God‘s divine name as well as Dad, Papa or Father? Most certainly he did proof is mentioned in the section LGBT on God. So in this regard he enjoyed paradise. It was not the physical surroundings that were the primary importance it was the relationship that they enjoyed together.
Later paradise was lost when Adam and Eve ‘hid’ from the voice, they felt guilty and did not want to talk to Gods walking voice. Often we argue with friends or family but to continue a loving relationship we need to ‘kiss and makeup’’, if we don’t then a relationship can be lost, sometimes forever, how sad! The human pair did not want further friendship with their Papa, this is when paradise was lost not when they were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Jesus Christ used the young child’s term ‘Papa’ just seconds before he expired, died. So to regain Paradise in the New World we need to restore our human friendship with our Heavenly Father.
This leaves the Question; Why did they choose to break this fantastic relationship with their heavenly parent?
This is dwelt in Angels section Adam & Eve Deceived
Jesus when he was 30 years old got baptised in the Jordan river in Israel, Jews got baptised as a way of demonstrating a greater commitment to serve God as we would when getting married to show our commitment to our partner. He went to wilderness to meditate on his preaching work ahead, just as he finished Satan appeared to him and tried to get him to ‘commit one act of worship'. The offer be a political Christ and to rule the world now. Jesus rejected him but it displayed the issue of who will we serve God or the god of this world the Prince of the rebellion. [Mathew chapter 4] More on Jesus, Go to ‘Jesus’ section:
What will it be like in Paradise?
Many envision paradise, we know death and sickness will eventually be gone but you may have many practical questions so we have tried to cover many here.
Will we definitely see those loved ones who have died and what about our beloved pets we have lost in death?
Attempted Answers, some we will not really have the answer until we are in this new world with Christ as our Ruler. The answer will enable us to envision how life can be, but is there anything at the present time that we can do to help us to understand or feel how good life will be once the oppressive authorities of the present world system are gone. One thing is mixing with others who show brotherly and sisterly love now, by facing challenges together and working unitedly now without charge. So being a volunteer is the first step in this process, showing love and consideration to those around us. At the present time with the Ukraine conflict 100,000’s are offering refugees a free place to stay in their own homes throughout many countries of Europe, this is a demonstration of neighbourly love in action. A point made previously was that the paradise experience was provided by people giving this service to other people, the point here is, this is the first step in loving God by showing love for our fellow human. This is a returning step back into paradise that Adam and Eve left.
Chronic illness was healed by Jesus while on earth so by examining his behaviour back then in Palestine will give us an idea how miracles will happen for us. On one occasion he cured a blind man who he put on eye salve and instructed him to wash in the pool of Si-loam. The purpose was to provide time for him to get used to light something he would not have known previously. He raised a daughter from death but ensured that it was done in private with just the girls’ parents there in their own home. So this indicates that resurrected people will be ’awakened’ from the sleep of death amongst friends or close relatives if possible. Notice he described Lazarus when he was dead as ‘sleeping’ in the grave. Another relief here is that those deceased are in a deep sleep, unconscious, not in some mythical heaven or hell. Somebody who is alive and enters as a survivor at 80 yrs of age will gradually grow younger. In Job 42 it says that Job‘s skin became fresher like in youth and he lived another life time meaning that the ageing process can progressively be reversed. Just imagine every morning one less wrinkle! John 9:1-12 ch 11:1-44 nwt
Aborted fetus, children and marriage, king David wrote about himself in Psalm 139:13-17 about God knowing him as an embryo, this means the Grand Creator knows the individual once an embryo is formed meaning all the aborted foetuses can be read by him, he can see the individuals potential this means they could qualify for resurrection in the general resurrection in the new world. How would he do it? Mary, Jesus human mother carried him so any willing surrogate mother could carry these embryos. In the prophesy of Isaiah 11:1-10 NIV describes Jesus rule, peace amongst the animals and a child safe in the ‘hole of a cobra’ The NIV commentary says ‘such perfect tranquillity is possible only when Christ reigns over the earth’. This means the mandate given to Adam and Eve continues that includes marriage, children and childbirth. The instruction was ‘to fill the earth (with children)’ only when the earth is ‘filled’ will childbirth cease (we believe). Adam’s wife Eve was made from his flesh they became ‘one flesh’ with no prospect of dying meaning marriage is meant to be permanent except for us imperfect people who want a change. So all those like myself who have experienced divorce, need to remember the right companion in life is something we would not want to change, but if our partner is not someone we want as a companion for life then, those married unevenly would not be able to be happy ‘living a lie’ for 100 years, our Creator would be unkind not to provide sufficient flexibility. Scripture does talk about ‘another scroll was opened’ Revelation 20:12 Insight volume 2 page 880 commentary. Meaning new laws in the new world. Interestingly Almighty God has experience with divorce himself the record says he ‘divorced Israel’, some quote that he hates ‘divorce’ but this is incorrect the scripture says ‘ he hates the treachery in divorce’ Malachi 2:16 & Jeremiah 3:6-11 (spiritual prostitution by Judah). The main grounds are sexual unfaithfulness meaning the wronged party can move on if they desire. During Israel’s earlier history a ‘certificate’ was also permitted. So this means the wrong doer is not a criminal to be judged by any of us the issue of fidelity is between to couple it is their private wedding contract between each other and God. Unfaithfulness is most certainly hurtful to the wronged partner It’s this hurtfulness that displeases God.
