The New World Society

• Many former Jehovah’s Witnesses have criticised the Watchtower Organisation stating that it’s wrong in revealing certain bible prophesy or that they have suffered or been abused, some are devoted to a vendetta others are genuinely hurt The words New World and Spiritual Paradise evoke euphoria and others have ‘found the truth’ and are very grateful and enjoy what has been claimed is a society of the New World experiencing a spiritual Paradise now. All these are correct, this mini book is devoted to ‘realism’ the praise of Jehovah’s name and expectations that relate to Christs command to Peter and the apostles when he said ‘Shepherd my sheep‘ that involved feeding these ones spiritually, protecting them from harm and gathering in the sheep till ‘the end of the system of things’ at Christs return ‘where every eye will see him’. The baptism as commanded by Christ is continuing the preaching work is continuing.

SETTING and HISTORY 

The words New World, Spiritual Paradise all evoke perfection an idealist culture and a euphoric lifestyle and to some degree this is true, if you have witnessed the construction of a Kingdom Hall in 3 days or seen hundreds of sisters working on a building site conditions unseen and unheard of throughout the building industry. Thousands getting baptised at assemblies where 100000 are singing in unison and volunteers preparing food . This kind of unique experience began in Russell’s time with the photo drama of creation, and Rutherford announcement that ‘millions now living will never die’ living on a restored earth being transformed in to a physical paradise, how wonderful! These emotional experiences were real they moved the brotherhood as it says ‘being accomplished in the entire association of brothers in the world’ 1 Peter 5:9

Since COVID the atmosphere in the world has changed people have spent much time in isolation under house arrest, this clever technique of Satan has damaged the spirituality of the Brotherhood causing many to feel relived they have stopped public preaching work , others have half heartily joined meetings on zoom and others including elders have stopped altogether. Some directions to elders have been of a threatening nature that has been a turning point for some elders who were not happy with the increasing bullying behaviour.

The governing body has been struggling with how to manage the present situation these few elderly anointed feel they are the only ones left to help, the surprising increase in new partakers are believed to be spurious brothers , the end has delayed and flawed policies from the past have increased in intensity causing increased problems, during 2020-21 there have been 26 court cases against the organisation from 9 different countries.

Comparison with Israel : even with the deliverance out of the Red Sea those in the ’vast mixed company’ who joined the Israelite's ’on a spur of the moment decision’ they witnessed a miraculous deliverance through the waters of the Red Sea but within weeks asked Aaron to create a substitute for Moses, he conceived the building of a ‘golden calf’ not because they wanted a different god they wanted a visible representation that they missed in Moses. He had disappeared for over a month, they felt abandoned so they wanted reassurance with a visible representative. This means that they succumbed to wanting to worship Jehovah in their own way. This problem has continued throughout the history of Israel, for times both the king and the people were faithful bringing honour to their God and fame for his name and reputation amongst the neighbouring nations. Sadly these periods of faithfulness did not last very long and many years of faithlessness followed. Saul consulted spirit mediums, others wanted a. blessing in agriculture that neighbouring peoples had, so they copied Baal worship so their land was declared clean, to have this they choose to sacrifice their children. Today this sacrifice continues ‘we sacrifice those who are ‘dis fellow-shipped’ and ‘hand them over’ to Satan (causing their spiritual death) to keep the congregation clean. How awful!

The 1st century Christian congregation was perfect and had no problems? Sadly, NO The congregation had amazing results within weeks after Pentecost up to 10000 were baptised and some received the Holy Spirit as anointed ones. Others heard the truth were baptised but did not receive adoption as sons because they belonged to the other sheep class mentioned by Christ. The good news spread though out the known world. Then just 20 years later false teachers started to take over some of the congregations, Paul counselled the Corinthians congregation concerning sexual immorality that was worse than the morality in the pagan world. In fact disputes involving Jewish converts and Greek converts caused so much division that even involved the apostles themselves such as Peter. Within 60 years the 1st century Christian congregation as a group were turning apostate. The present day organisation connected with watchtower society has existed now for over 140 years so it should be no surprise that there have been problems some serious. Satan as managed to infiltrate all the other organisations of true worshippers, known as ‘a people for his name’ causing considerable heartache for Jehovah who had to take up divorce proceedings against them. The last destruction occurred in 70 common era with the complete destruction of Jerusalem with only the Christian’s surviving after their obedience to Christ by ‘fleeing to the mountains’ in 66 ce and surviving. So it is today with Jehovah’s People they must stay faithful, endure to the end and resist the temptation to worship Jehovah in their own way. So sets the scene! WHO IS THE EVIL SLAVE ?

Since both slaves are mentioned by Jesus a ‘faithful slave and an evil slave’ one feeds and cares for for Christs sheep and the other ‘beats their fellow brothers’ (Mth 24:45-47).

So the first identifying mark is they were formally Christian brothers who later change. They leave the worldwide brotherhood and attack them either directly or indirectly. Who have done this ? In the days of Rutherford he stated via the watchtower that those groups came into existence after he became president inheriting the watchtower society from the deceased Russell. Four directors lost their positions some took Bible students with them and formed new bible societies that started to attack the watchtower. Since this began around 1918 it has continued to date.

                        For His Name'

INTRODUCTION - Jesus foretold his return in the Last Days specific signs would appear culminating in a great tribulation that will bring about Armageddon a war between the returned Christ and Satan and his human agents known as ‘Gog’ who will defeat them bringing the anointed to himself and guiding the great crowd through into a protected earth to be transformed into a paradise. Before this happens the preaching needs to be completed, baptism of the sheep need to be done and Jehovah’s name needs to become known worldwide. So which chrisrian group is to be chosen and used as his ‘slave‘ to accomplish his will, yes! a people for his name!

RUSSELL became the first president of the watchtower society in his early 20’s coming to believe that Jesus was due to bring Armageddon in 1914 based upon the calculation of the gentile times of 2520 yrs starting with the destruction of Jerusalem in 607 bce ending Jewish kingly line - to reestablishing Kingly rule by Christ in 1914. He believed a 40 year pre-harvest starting in 1874 CE. This motivated an extensive preaching work by around 5-10000 international Bible students. They shed the misleading teachings of the Catholic Church mostly continued by Protestant churches. They promoted Jehovah’s name, his son as his First born son, the kingdom to rule the earth with a heavenly government of 144000 . They exposed the lies taught by Christendom and the support it offered secular human governments under the control of Satan. He was unsure about the ‘other sheep’ concluding that they were a secondary heavenly group who had served side by side with the anointed ones since Pentecost or 36 ce when the gentiles joined as Christians with the existing Jewish Christians. Around 1912 Russell started to have doubts concerning what would happen in 1914 there had also been speculation concerning the start date of 607 being 586 (later it was established that the 586-588 date contradicted scripture) or as a more reliable date for the destruction of Jerusalem. This being the case would mean around 1925 be the date. Two years later he died leaving a vacuum since many considered him to be ‘the wise servant’ of Jehovah. His current legal representative, Rutherford managed with legal skill to become the new president causing a rift with 4 directors who left some starting rival bible student groups.

RUTHERFORD - immediately finished the next book in studies in the scriptures series but it was full of so much seditious material that the US justice department took its authors to court imprisoning the entire Watchtower directorship for publishing anti war propaganda In 1917 they served 9 months in prison being released in early 1919, Rutherford upon release made claims that this was persecution and captivity by Satan and their liberation was by divine prophesy. He also continued to stick with the 1914 date stating that Jesus did arrive then but is was a presence unseen. That his visible return would be within a generation after the completion of the signs of the last days culminating with Armageddon. In 1919 he claims that since Christ has returned invisibly he does his inspection for the ‘faithful and discreet slave’ and selects the Watchtower to be the one giving it authority over ‘all his belongings’. Matthew 24:45-47 An inspection infers the slave was previously assigned.

 But this ‘faithful slave ‘ appointed in 1919 was to be inspected at the great tribulation where then it is assigned over ‘all his belongings’ when those anointed join their brothers in heaven. Last day signs and intensify like after 66 ce with Jerusalem's destruction in 70 ce in this case it would be attacked by ‘Gog’ on Jehovah’s people those ’vast mixed company’ who resist the beast number 666 will also survive. At this time on Christs inspection of his organisation he will ask himself ‘who is the faithful and discreet slave?’

Judge Rutherford as he liked to be called was about 50 years old in 1919 as president he established a number of new teachings that included using the 1925 date (in case it was correct) as it says in Daniel of ‘Michael (Jesus) standing up’ for his people and Daniel you ‘stand up for your lot’ at the end of the days. Daniel 12:1 & 13. He believed this meant that Daniel, Moses, David the men of old were due to return so he purchased a home for them in the US expecting them in 1925. He also insisted that all baptised witnesses preach this included the congregation teachers. He made two more major announcements 1931 he renamed the International Bible Students as Jehovah’s Witnesses including calling Jw buildings as Kingdom Halls. In 1935 he announced at Ohio assembly that the two groups ‘Jeremiah class’ (144 k) and the ‘jehonadab’ class who work together are not two heavenly groups as Russell taught but one heavenly class of rulers with Christ and the other was the earthly class (other sheep) known as a ‘great crowd’ who ‘go through’ the great tribulation at Armageddon. Millions ‘now may will never die’. He always liked to have a new announcement each time at special events so he claimed the earthly class began when he announced it in 1935 but this contradicts Russell’s teachings a contradiction that continues to cause difficulties for the brotherhood. He died in 1942 but had brought Jehovah’s name to the fore worldwide and United the flock as well as wining a number of court victories that advanced civil liberties and free speech in the free world. He was succeeded by Nathan H Knorr who became President or WTBS at the age of 37 years.

Latest - The present view held onto by WT Society is that Christ’s invisible presence began in 1914 Satan and his angels were cast down then. 1919 the organisation was inspected and chosen by Christ as the ‘faithful and discreet  1914 established a beginning of times of change that will lead up to the last of the last days, this needed a slave who was chosen by Christ to represent Jehovah and preach the good news of Christs kingdom in all the earth, to make disciples and baptise them. The watchtower was chosen as a faithful slave and tasked with being ‘a people for his name’ and to complete its assigned tasks. Jesus also says that the slaves produce different fruit-age, one is lazy, and another turns evil beating the fellow brothers and loosing its readiness considering its master to be late. The present times provide different outcomes for individuals within the slave class who must constantly ‘keep on the watch’. The Last of the Last Days with Christ returning and inspecting his slave ‘like a refiners of silver/gold or launderers soap’ (designed to whiten cloth (spiritual garments)) Malachi 3:1-5.  This illustrates that the slave has opportunity to satisfy its commission it was given it will need to permit itself to be cleansed and purified so it can receive the reward of being assigned the title ‘faithful & Discreet’.

• 1874 was chosen by Russell because it indicated 6000 years had passed since Adams creation. Assuming a creative day is 7000 years long deduct 1000 years Christ Reign and 1874 autumn to 1875 CE. It seemed logical for the gentile times to conclude 40 years later in 1914 as Armageddon providing him with 40 years harvest preaching. Thus Russell concluded that Christ began reigning invisibly in 1874 . Jehovah allowed this miscalculation because he was preparing a group of bible students to become his ‘slave’. 
   
• 1914 - 1919 This date Jesus did come in kingly power. He was present invisibly. It did focus the Bible Students enabling change with the death of Russell and the choosing of a ‘slave’ for the advertising of his kingdom to come, preparing the way, developing an international brotherhood praising Jehovah as his ‘named people’. 
   
• 1931 becoming Jehovah’s named people and carrying his name worldwide. 1935 The updated understanding that the ‘other sheep’ are an earthy group and those living at gt will survive if marked a sheep forming a ‘great crowd‘ of survivors into the earth. This group of other sheep were first (likely) collected starting after Pentecost likely in 36 ce.
• 1974/5 The reason this date was selected was because an error in counting the kings in Israel was discovered meaning the 100 year discrepancy brought the 1874 date to autumn 1974 to autumn 1975 thus causing excitement both in Bethel and within the brotherhood that 6000 years ended here. The only miscalculation was that the 6th creative day concluded with the creation of Eve not with Adams creation. Thus counting on to date makes the gap or age of Adam when Eve was created as over 48 years ago. Did Adam sojourn with God in the garden for 30 years with a deep sleep lasting 20 yrs making a total of 50 years ? Of course we don’t know.
   
• 2020 The COVID Pandemic starts in spring, lock-downs & health fears heightened like never before.
• 2022 springtime Threats of World War 3 and the use of nuclear Weapons intensifies fears.

The beginning of Christs all the signs of the last days are likely to intensify producing an extreme fearful setting even for the chosen ones, this arrival could be a time period of 7 years or 1260 days where he is remains invisible this is when producing ‘woe‘ for the earth increases. Hooks will be put in Satan's jaws, The eight king a worldwide situation of a new type of world ruler-ship where the citizens must comply with its mandates to ‘buy and ‘ sell receiving and thus receiving the ‘mark 666’ , Likely to be UN or UN approved beast that attacks all those who don’t comply. This will possibly include ‘a vast mixed company’ who are not yet baptised Witnesses. This king or ‘Gog’ whose creation may be after a limited nuclear exchange bordering on world war 3. This will compare to 66 ce when a final signal ‘peace established’ will mean to ‘flee’ as the great persecution begins. This persecution may also be used by Jehovah to cleanse the organisation and its leadership expose any evil slave ten-dances and sift the brotherhood. Then they will be labelled as ‘sheep’ and the anointed by sacrificing their lives in martyrdom for the great crowd survival will prove their sealing as members of the heavenly bride class. This group joins their fellow prospective kings and priests gaining ‘stewardship over all the masters belongings’. Then Christ with his myriads of angels with Christ where ‘every eye will see’ as they act to protect the great crowd and attack and destroy Gog and his earthly hordes any damage caused by weapons of mass destruction will be healed restoring planet earth, and abyss Satan and his angels. Jehovah’s people are ready prepared with their need to flee at a moments notice with their ‘go bags‘ ready.

So dear brothers we face fearful and testing times ahead but as Jesus said, ‘lift up your heads..deliverance is near’: So are we and the governing body ready? Jesus mentioned the waiting virgins for the wedding feast who had extra oil. To review this we need to examine the past:

Nathan H Knorr 3rd President of Wt Society

The most successful president of the watchtower Societies history, Rutherford increased the numbers of the brotherhood 6 times but Knorr increased 250k to 3million this indicates the success of his presidency. He introduced the Missionary School of Gilead, the creation of Jehovah’s people own bible version, the bible encyclopaedia ‘incite of the scriptures’ the new elder arrangement. The largest baptisms and international assemblies ever. The average age of this president and his fellow directors (now known as the governing body) was under 47 in 1950. Today it is nearly 80. He started as president in 1943 during the height of ww2 in 1947 in the magazine renamed AWAKE an article was published criticising the Catholic Churches teaching on ‘Excommunication’ (copy in wt library A2) This very clearly makes the point that:-

• The authority they claim is based on the teachings of Christ; Matthew 18:15-19, 1 Corinthians 5:3-5 16:22. Titus 3:9-11 , 1 Timothy 6:3,4 Romans 16:17 ‘the hierarchy‘s excommunication, as a punishment and ‘medicinal’ remedy, find no support in scripture. Catholicism adopted these pagan practices from Greek sources and the Druids .
• Weapons of excommunication became the instrument by which the clergy have a combination of ecclesiastical power and secular tyranny. During the inquisition the excommunicated ones were hung over fires but today the Catholic Church does not excommunicate church members sometimes a few priests annually. Interestingly disfellowshipped members are considered spiritually dead
• Excommunication as a papal force was greatly reduced..So much so that this generation does not observe such. 

The interesting point is that this article damns the Catholic Church's policy stating it misuses scripture, practices a pagan practice then admits that the policy has ceased for ordinary members of the church in our times. Then 5 years later in 1952 the president and F Franz introduce: the 

•  DISFELLOWSHIP arrangement that is identical to the arrangement described in the AWAKE article including the scriptural references. The consequences means the priests ‘have ecclesiastical power’ over the laity exactly the same as elders have over the rank and file members. This infuses fear within the religious community. Nowadays if a member voices a different religious opinion they can be called before a religious counsel , questioned, accused and pronounced guilty, the punishment is eviction and shunning. According to the Wikipedia on disfellowship (copy in jw library A1) it states : no 1
• Medicinal value means the process is claimed to be a benefit to the punished encourage then to return recant /repent and save their soul or their eternal life from destruction. This was practised in the Middle Ages to save a persons eternal soul from meaning however much torture applied was a benefit for the accused… Jehovah's Witnesses hold the view that while disfellowshipped the person faces the second death and God's eternal adverse judgement.

1. Shunning on Wikipedia (copy in wt library) says; ‘it can have secondary psychological effects on self worth, self confidence, . Trauma impair psychological function..it can damage or destroy the shunned members closest familial , spousal, social, emotional and economic bonds.’. Parental alienation , is similar to psychological torture. If coercion is used it is at odds with civil rights laws and Human Rights as enshrined in the UN. 

This is difficult to believe, the background to this action was the violent Catholic inspired persecution on our brothers in Quebec Canada, why did Knorr and Franz copy Catholic disciplinary processes previously thoroughly condemned in the Awake magazine article? We may never know! Franz and 2 other directors attended a secret court case concerning the status of a Christian minister approved by registered religion within the British commonwealth that may have enhanced the need for a specific disciplinary policy. We know the Catholic action in Quebec ceased and a period of calm and increase occurred for the next twenty years that included the urgency of the 1975 hope amongst the brotherhood. The problem is the disfellowship policy covered 6 offences then 10 now it is 64. It has become so complicated that a secret elders book has been produced , revised and revised again. Another problem with the disciplinary policy is the manner of the judicial process and its objective of the policy. :-

1. To protect the Brotherhood with the need to keep the organisation CLEAN
2. To establish the wrongdoers motive it’s not the specific sin it’s to establish REPENTANCE
3. Remind the offender that discipline of disfellowship will encourage them to change course humble themselves and gain Jehovah’s forgiveness by gaining reinstatement.

For this disciplinary process to work the brotherhood needs to ensure the offender genuinely realises the seriousness of their sin meaning they are to be shunned by all members including close family members. Members in the same residence must avoid any spiritual contact. 

Questions and the Effects on the Congregation. Many feel very uncomfortable with this process it appears to conflict with our Christian love amongst ourselves. Close relatives can be very distressed by the possibility that they may never regain a proper relationship with their close loved ones. Others fear they with die eternally in the second death if they don’t return. This is a punishment that the innocent brotherhood pays for the disciplinary process. Please note a relaxation of the policy of contact with close family members who do not live at home has been written into the secret elders manual since 2019 but its not public news. See library section.

The Question remains; why the change in policy in 1952 when previous policy worked well covering the previous 80 years?

The GOVERNING BODY from 1980’s a number of changes were made that separated the president of the watchtower not being the chairman of the body the purpose was to separate the legal corporations from the spiritual leadership. 6 committees were formed to streamline the operation. The legacy left over from previous leaderships included the ‘generation' teaching introduced by Rutherford from 1914 that he had emphasised ‘this generation will not pass away’ till Jesus returns. The fallout from the expectations created the 1975 miscalculation that caused extreme embarrassment. One of their problems was they felt the number of anointed ones was diminishing this is erroneous based on Rutherford’s claim that all Christian’s prior to 1935 were of the anointed.

2. 1919 steward chosen as ‘faithful slave’ when Christ return an inspection is made and if faithful’ is ‘appointed over all belongings’’,then it Gaines the title of ‘faithful and discreet slave’ Inspection is due.
3. The ‘other sheep’ were understood as the earthy group as announced by Rutherford in 1935 but started around 36 ce.
4. The 144000 have always remained the minority amongst the Christian converts and this includes the 1st century meaning that it would always be likely that Jehovah would hold back a considerable number till Jesus expected arrival at the GT.
5. These extra 15000 anointed brothers put to use assisting the governing body and as it’s only helpers. The great crowd were never assigned to be as kingdom rulers they remain subjects to kingdom rule.
6. The governing body recognises the need for younger members and values the additional help for their fellow anointed brothers; using them in the body.
7. Amend the disciplinary arrangement use a stronger form of marking within the congregation and abandon the present disfellowship arrangement that includes shunning. The judicial committee change to shepherding committee, shred the secret elders book. Replace with new brochure, ‘disciplinary process for all congregation members’. copy for each family head. Transparency promoted.
8. Not to legally fight sexual child abuse court cases. Provide repeated apologies to the victims. Refer any future complaints directly to secular authorities.

The present leadership needs help so firstly it is recommended that they bring in new anointed advisers. On the plus side since 1980 , theocratic increase continued apace with the former Soviet block countries seeing huge increases. New meeting formats increased kingdom hall construction, the inauguration of the HLC, a revised translation, the production of a new world beating website, the production of videos, the advancement of language translation to be more extensive than any other organisation on earth. Extending the preaching work with metropolitan witnessing, cart witnessing, TV station via jw.org. Use of zoom for meeting. Despite the difficulties of the COVID pandemic spiritual feeding continues, the brotherhood continues to be cared for expelling is reducing. So this is all good news.

The Preaching work since March 2020 with the start of the COVID threat the present governmental system has changed it’s taken control of human populations, its coerced, threatened, and scared people to death unless they cooperate with its safety policies. It’s citizens have queued desperately to get their ‘shots’ ‘jabs’ fearful of germs, this control has been coordinated worldwide,  and shocked everyone including the elderly governing body members who have encouraged full cooperation. Not only do elderly people hang onto their masks but young people have queued for hours to get their jab so they can go to college go to nightclubs and pop concerts, children of 11 who have no risk are being jabbed. Want to go on vacation then get your shots. Satan has effectively controlled the populations making them starting to become his belongings This policy will continue to increase with the  cooperation that has included the cessation of the preaching work from house to house in effect allowing ‘the disgusting thing that caused desolation’ on to the spiritual estate of Jehovah’s people causing worship of our God to nearly stop:-

• “that the ‘constant feature’ has been removed and the disgusting thing that causes desolation is standing in the holy place’ Daniel 12:11

This article claims that ‘the constant feature’ is the sacred worship and activity by Jehovah’s people since 1919 in preaching and declaring the good news of Gods kingdom in the hands of Christ & has been a constant source of praise to Jehovah, a sweet smelling odour that on March 12, 2020 ceased by the order of the governing body themselves. In person assemblies have also been stopped. When will there be a change? It’s been announced 'in person assemblies' resume in 2023. It either started in March 2020 till September 2022 when public preaching resumed, the brotherhood has learned to informally witness in a better manner, write letters and telephone witness that has shown its resilience and determination to continue to obey Christs commands. He and his legions of angels will be clearly visible to the naked human eye, even atheists will see and know this truth on the Day of Judgement. Presently if you are an active witness please remember the many times we have been reminded to follow the course of the Beroea brothers who, ‘carefully examining the scriptures daily to see whether these thing are so (a exacting legal process (study ref))’ Acts 17:11. The brothers back in the first century did not just accept the apostles word, such as Paul and Silas they made sure it was the ‘truth’, whereas those in Thessaloniki had just accepted the message on face value. How about you?

• The Governing Body is faced with a choice, put its house in order or wait for Christs inspection and receive the ‘Lyle of a laundry man’ test. Malachi 3:1-10
• To put their house in order they need to ’treat their fellow anointed brothers kindly’ and use them to assist the other sheep to be saved out of the hand of ‘Gog’.

• They need to accept that the disfellowship policy is in reality Idolatry and cease it. Alternatively they could soften the existing arrangement so the shunning is removed making it more like a strick marking policy as suggested here.

Being clean for you our God as an ecclesia in our spiritual estate before your throne of underserved kindness, those who grossly disrespect your laws and commandments, those who despise your name, those who choose to sin without remorse, deserve to be separated from your love, without repentance they deserve eternal death, out of our respect and love for you we will  .        separate ourselves from these defilers of your great and holy name. To shun this evil within them is to exorcise it          .   .    If they choose to become spiritually alive again, they can be saved become clean and return to you. Holy Holy Holy is Jehovah! Praise Jah You People!. Amen!
